Mick Foley on "Celebrity Wife Swap"

WWE Universe, Mick Foley stars on the season finale of ABC?s new hit show, Celebrity Wife Swap! On the hour-long reality show, Foley will ?swap? wives with actor Antonio Sabato Jr.

Take a peek at the household manual put together by Mick?s wife, Colette, on abc.com, for Sabato?s fianc?e, Cheryl. She introduces the family?s ?new mom? to the four Foley children ? Dewey, Noelle, Mickey and Hughie ? as well as an untrained puppy named Randall.

The extensive handbook covers everything from the Foleys? guidelines about ?Chores,? ?Daily Routines? (including packing for the family?s move from Florida to Long Island, N.Y.) and ?Appearances.?

?Mick will go down in history as the world's most thrifty and bling-less person in and out of the ring and never was one for the fast lane!? Colette writes about her husband.

The manual also reveals that budding standup comic Foley is also into an unexpected hobby ? scrapbooking!

?Another activity that Mick and the kids love to do together is scrapbooking. They use family photos and decorate the pages with stickers to tell stories. It's a sweet pastime of my husband's and I'm glad to have so much documentation of our family life,? Foley?s wife explains.

Colette also presents a ?To-Do? list for Cheryl, which includes:

  • Go to one of Mick's comedy shows.
  • ?Videotape and help create characters for the family wrestling matches.
  • Try giving Mick a fashion make-over. "Repackaging" Mick might be a sore subject for him, but he is so easygoing that he might let you. However, don't be surprised if the moment you turn your back, he "Mickifies" your hard work by messing it all up.

While Colette says there?s not much time for rules in their house, she calls the Foleys ?one big, loving and dysfunctional family.?

How will Cheryl fare when it comes to trying to restore order to the chaotic Foley house? What challenges will Colette encounter when tasked with running the young Sabato house, which includes a busy 9-year-old and a 3-month old who needs nearly-around-the-clock care?

Oil hovers below $98 amid mixed US demand signs

(AP) ? Oil prices hovered below $98 a barrel Thursday in Asia amid mixed signs about the strength of U.S. crude demand.

Benchmark crude for March delivery was down 1 cent at $97.60 a barrel at midday Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell 87 cents to settle at $97.61 on Wednesday.

Brent crude was steady at $111.56 a barrel on the ICE Futures Exchange in London.

A jump of U.S. crude inventories last week by 4 million barrels suggested oil consumption is sluggish. However, factories raised output in January by the most in seven months, the Institute for Supply Management said Wednesday while the Commerce Department said construction spending rose 1.5 percent in December, the fifth straight monthly gain.

Oil prices have hovered near $100 for the last few months amid mixed economic signs from the U.S., Europe and Asia. Some analysts expect crude to begin to rise as the global economy may grow more this year than previously expected.

"The crude oil price has become stuck in a remarkably extended period of narrow sideways trading," Barclays Capital said in a report. "However, the market is now likely to start to position for an upside break based on a greater degree of relaxation about macroeconomic prospects."

In other energy trading, heating oil rose 1.4 cents to $3.06 per gallon and gasoline futures were up 0.3 cents to $2.90 per gallon. Natural gas gained 0.8 cent to $2.39 per 1,000 cubic feet.

'Le Corbusier: Beton Brut and Ineffable Space, 1940 - 1960'

"I received your handwritten letter from the 28th of September 1962 with eight color photographs, five of which are of the High Court with its new colors. I am extremely bothered and saddened to see such colors. I never gave the order for such colors"

So begins a letter from architect Charles-douard Jeanneret (better known as Le Corbusier) to his cousin Pierre Jeanneret about the Chandigarh, India, worksite. It is just one of many such letters and other unpublished documents that Anna Rosellini and Roberto Gargiaini uncovered in the archives of the Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris. All together, these bring new light to the architectural oeuvre of the 20th century's most famous architect.

The results of this research are richly illustrated with 1,350 full color photographs, plans, and sketches in the newly published book "Le Corbusier: Bton Brut and Ineffable Space, 1940 - 1960" (EPFL Press; September 2011; Integra cover; 600 pp), by Roberto Gargiani, a renowned architectural historian, with Le Corbusier scholar Anna Rosellini.

The exhaustive research carried out by the authors provides valuable new insight into the aesthetic principles of Le Corbusier during the post World-War-II period. They explain his manner of defining the final artistic quality of the work directly at the construction site as if he were dealing with a sculpture or tableau, for example. Bton brut, a term invented by Le Corbusier at the beginning of the 1950s to describe his use of exposed concrete, is analyzed from all angles for the first time: fabrication, final formation and texture, and surface treatment.

The text also delves into the project management and construction of several Le Corbusier buildings constructed between 1940 and 1965. Sites explored in detail include the Unit d'Habitation (Housing Unit) at Marseille, the city of Chandigarh, the Tokyo museum, the Carpenter Center in Cambridge, and the Unit d'Habitation in Berlin.

Gargiani and Rosellini describe the convergence of artistic expression into what Le Corbusier defines as the espace indicible (ineffable space), including both the role of tapestries and paint to qualify these spaces and the use of photography to study the unexpressed potential of his architecture and paintings.

The book examines questions of optics, artistic vision, and the psychophysiology of perception in parallel with technical questions about the materials used in Le Corbusier's various works. This approach reveals the existence of a series of previously ignored theoretical questions about the artistic process shown here to be indispensable for the complete understanding of the work of Le Corbusier after World War II.

This examination of Le Corbusier's last and fundamental works decodes both the architect's vision and his quest for architectural and artistic solutionssolutions that are still defining the course of modern architecture today.

Dr. Richard Olney, ALS Researcher, Dies From Disease He Studied

SAN FRANCISCO -- Dr. Richard Olney, an internationally renowned researcher who dedicated his life to finding a cure for Lou Gehrig's disease, has died after his own eight-year battle with the disease. He was 64.

The University of California, San Francisco announced Monday that Olney died Friday at his Marin County home.

He had spent nearly his entire 25-year research career at UCSF, the last 18 investigating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.

Olney launched the UCSF ALS Center in 1993 to pursue treatments for the disease, which causes patients to gradually lose control of their muscles. It now serves 375 patients.

Olney resigned from the center in 2004 to attend to his own health. He enrolled as the first human subject in a test he helped design of a drug used to combat cancer and the other for AIDS that showed promise in slowing ALS' progress. He adhered to the experiment's rigid guidelines and didn't seek to determine if he was receiving the drugs or medically useless placebos until the end of the test.

"It was typical of Rick to put the value of the medical research before himself and not take the drugs outside the boundaries of the trial," said Dr. Catherine Lomen-Hoerth, an Olney protege who took over leadership of the center. "He knew it was highly unlikely that a treatment would be found during his lifetime, but nothing was going to stop him from doing whatever he could to advance the research."

Olney was in the group that received the actual drugs.

"It may have helped," Lomen-Hoerth said. "It's hard to know. Early-stage clinical trials like this involve low doses that are designed to test drug safety, as opposed to efficacy."

Some 30,000 Americans have ALS, a small number when compared to other brain diseases.

About 10,000 new cases are diagnosed every year. And while about 10 percent of the cases have genetic roots, it's not known how the other 90 percent occur. It's not contagious and much of current research is focused on genetic and environmental factors of disease that still mystifies experts today as much as it did when New York Yankee slugger Lou Gehrig died of it in 1941.

Olney graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in 1968. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 1973.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Paula; two children and a grandson. A private memorial is planned. The family asked for donations to be made Olney's name to the UCSF ALS Center.
