Grey Cup 100 Tour coming to Wilfrid Laurier

WATERLOO, Ont. (October 31, 2012) - This year marks an important milestone for the Canadian Football League - the celebration of the 100th Grey Cup which will be played on November 25, 2012.?

There is no other all-Canadian annual professional sporting championship in existence, let alone one that has been awarded 100 times. This year-long celebration is a unique opportunity to celebrate our Cup, our Country, and the tremendous bond between them. ? ?

The trophy which has inspired so many pilgrimages will embark on its own proud journey this year. ?It will visit 100 communities, inspire the telling of thousands of stories about football and friendship, and touch millions of Canadians. ?

The Grey Cup 100 Train Tour, presented by RONA, is an epic 4,100 kilometre journey that will carry the Grey Cup trophy to communities across Canada in celebration of this year's 100th Grey Cup.

The tour, mostly by train, will ultimately visit more than 100 communities across Canada before delivering the Grey Cup, in late November, to Toronto for the 100th Grey Cup game and festival. The Grey Cup will be transported by road to other cities and towns not directly accessible by rail, visiting schools, hospitals and community centres.

The Grey Cup is visiting Wilfrid Laurier University on Tuesday, November 6 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the concourse of the Fred Nichols Campus Centre. Members of the Laurier football team as well as TSN's Kate McKenna will be on hand at the event.
